UC Riverside Nanocamp in the Spotlight on UCTV

"State of Minds" program includes segment on summer nanotechnology program involving middle and high school students

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- “State of Minds,” the University of California Television (UCTV) magazine show, will feature UC Riverside in a show premiering at 9 a.m., Nov. 14. This episode, called “State of Minds: Fall 2005,” will include a UCR-produced segment on a “nanocamp” that took place on campus over the summer. The title of the segment is "UCR's Nanosummer."

The show will be repeated at 1 p.m., Nov. 15; 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Nov. 16; 6 a.m., Nov. 17; 3 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Nov. 18; 12 a.m. and 12 p.m., Nov. 19, and 11:30 a.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Nov. 20.

The segment features the research of Robert Haddon, a distinguished professor of chemical and environmental engineering at UCR. It also portrays his participation in the Frontiers in Nanotechnology and Engineering program, a camp for middle and high school students. They learn basic scientific procedures, attend lectures by nanoscientists, and talk about nanoelectronics, nanomedicine, nanofabrication and superconductors. They also met professors and toured state-of-the-art research facilities involving nanotechnology research at UCR.
