Record Number of Admissions

UC Riverside Accepts More Freshmen than Ever Before

Admission offers out to almost 22,000 freshmen.

(April 24, 2006)

RIVERSIDE, CA (www.ucr.edu) — UC Riverside has offered admission to more prospective freshmen for fall 2006 than ever before.

Admission offers have gone out to 21,991 prospective freshmen. The admission process will not be over, however, until students submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) by May 1, 2006.

“We can see the enthusiasm for UC Riverside,” says LaRae Lundgren, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management. “Prospective students and their parents have been visiting the campus in droves. We’ve increased the number of weekly tours and have added more weekend tours. We’ve also increased the number of on-and-off-campus events by 25 percent this season to accommodate the increased interest in our campus and our academic programs. The most exciting indication of interest in UC Riverside is the 24 percent increase in student admission acceptances over last year at this time.

“We are also extremely pleased with the high quality of our applicants,” said Lundgren. “We are excited that UC Riverside is their university of choice.”

“UC Riverside has a reputation for challenging, educating and inspiring bright, high-achieving undergraduates and graduate students,” Lundgren said. “At UCR students learn and are supported by top educators. Many undergraduate students get to participate in research with professors who are considered the best in their fields. As a public research university, UC Riverside has become one of the most vibrant learning communities in the world. From engineering and science to the humanities, health sciences, business management, and the arts, opportunities at this university are incredible.”

Students who have received admission offers are encouraged to attend Discover Days on April 29 to experience the UCR campus and its many opportunities. Admitted students can go to their MyUCR account at www.My.UCR.edu to make a reservation for this important event or to schedule a campus tour.

Students interested in applying to UCR in the future can schedule a tour of the campus by visiting wwwMy.UCR.edu, and click on "Take a Tour" of the campus.
