Soap Star Comes Clean


Veteran Television Actor Jed Allan Takes Spotlight at UCR Palm Desert

Soap star discusses his life and times in entertainment.

PALM DESERT, Calif. (www.palmdesert.ucr.edu) —Veteran actor Jed Allan, will discuss his almost 50 years on stage, screen and television with Charles Evered, visiting professor at UCR Palm Desert, in the final presentation of the “Nuts and Bolts of the Entertainment Industry” series on Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m.

From “Lassie” to “Walker: Texas Ranger,” Jed Allan has appeared in more than 150 television productions. He is arguably best known as the patriarch everyone loves to hate on "General Hospital," Edward Quartermaine. He also starred in the feature film "Ice Station Zebra" with Rock Hudson and Ernest Borgnine.

He made his soap opera debut as Ace Hubbard on "Love of Life" in the 1960s and went on to play Paul Britton on "The Secret Storm" before leaving New York for Hollywood in 1967. On the West Coast, Mr. Allan became Don Craig on "Days of our Lives" and continued on that show for ten years. He later starred as CC Capwell on "Santa Barbara."
