The students were killed in automobile accident

(September 26, 2006)

RIVERSIDE, Calif.(www.ucr.edu) —- A campus memorial service for two UC Riverside students killed in an automobile accident will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, starting at the bell tower. Participants will walk to University Theatre, where the service will continue.

Family services were held earlier this week for Latosha Wallace, a sociology/administrative studies major who was a resident adviser in the Pan-African Themed Hall; and Mark Hall, a basketball player who transferred to UCR as a sociology major.

Both died from injuries suffered in a Sept. 16 car crash, triggered when the driver swerved to avoid a stalled vehicle on Highway 60 in Moreno Valley.

"It is heart-breaking to lose these two very talented, intelligent students before they had a chance to fully pursue their dreams," said James Sandoval, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. "Our sympathy and best wishes are with their families and friends."
