One Stop Admissions on June 2

UC Riverside Offers One Stop Admission Day Saturday, June 2

Qualified students can apply and be accepted to transfer into UC Riverside

(May 16, 2007)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- The University of California, Riverside has announced a special event for transfer-ready students who have not yet applied for admission to UC Riverside for fall 2007.

“It’s our One Stop Admission Day,” says Merlyn Campos, UC Riverside’s Interim Director of Admissions. “It gives transfer-ready students the opportunity to apply and receive their admission notification all in one day.”

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday, June 2 at the UC Riverside campus. Students can pick up information on housing, financial aid, and other student programs. Students who are admitted to UC Riverside can also submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) that day.

“It’s a quick and easy way to apply to one of the most prestigious universities on the West Coast,” said Campos. “And if for some reason, a student is not yet transfer-ready, the application fee is completely refunded. So there’s no risk at all.”

Last year, Sussan Magana was enrolled at Chaffey College and wasn’t sure if she’d be eligible to transfer. “I had changed classes a lot,” she recalls, “so I wasn’t sure if I could get in [to UCR] with the classes I had. But then [at One Stop Admission Day], they told me that I could.” Sussan is now a biology major at UC Riverside and is on schedule to graduate next year.

Nicole Bover, formerly of Mt. San Jacinto College, attended One Stop last year and said that the whole process, “took two hours, tops. It was really fast.” She said, “I did pretty much everything — financial aid, housing, MyUCR.” Now Nicole is enrolled in UC Riverside’s Business Administration program and she’s a member of the Lambda Sigma Gamma sorority.

Both students would strongly urge other community college students to attend One Stop Admission Day. “It’s good to see where you stand,” said Sussan. “And to learn about all the opportunities,” said Nicole.

One Stop Admission Day is designed specifically for community college students with at least 52 UC transferable semester units who haven’t yet secured their university transfer for fall 2007. Students should bring a completed UC application as well as copies of their community college transcripts. Students should also bring two checks or money orders, one for the application fee and one for their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) fee. The university cannot accept credit cards or cash during this event.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain admission into a world-class university right here in Southern California. For more information about One Stop Admission Day, contact the Office of Admissions at (951) 827-3411.
