The Incredible Bulk Event is Back for More

Residents Can Really Unload at Incredible Bulk Event

UCR and city join forces again to provide opportunity for students and community to dispose of bulky trash items.

(June 17, 2008)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — UCR and the city of Riverside have joined forces again to keep the city streets clean. The second annual Incredible Bulk Event, instituted by the city of Riverside and Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful, will be accepting unwanted bulky items at UCR Parking Lot 24 Canyon Crest Drive between University and Linden Avenues on Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Large items, such as furniture, refrigerators, mattresses, e-waste (computer hardware and cell phones) and much more will be accepted free of charge. Once collected, these items will be disposed of by the city.

No household hazardous waste, such as antifreeze, batteries, oil or paint will be accepted at the site. Students and residents with these items can contact Riverside County at 800-304-2226 to arrange for free disposal.

“We started this program last year after recognizing that a lot of large, unwanted items sometimes ended up on the curbs of Riverside,” said Jeff Kraus, UCR director of community relations. “The event was very successful and it now has become an annual ritual. This is the time of year when many UCR students move in, move out and change residences, so we are saving them and others in the community a trip to the dump.”

Citizens and students with additional questions can call 951-683-7100 or visit www.riversideca.gov/cure.
