Members of the original class of students will help dedicate the placement of the concrete slabs they signed back in 1954 at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the brand new Highlander Union Building.
A sampling of homecoming events:
Tuesday, Feb. 9
Ice-skating on Pierce Lawn, near the bell tower. 11 a.m. t o 7 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 11
7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Homecoming Karaoke Competition at The Barn, sponsored by Residence Life and Student Life
Friday, Feb. 12
7 p.m. to midnight – Bonfire to burn the mascot of the rival team. Event is near the Student Recreation Center, with food, bumper karts, a laser tag maze, and music provided by a celebrity DJ. Glow sticks and UCR spirit gear will be given away during the night. Sponsored by ASPB.
Saturday, Feb. 13
9 a.m. Hike to the C (Directions provided with reservation confirmation)
This challenging guided hike to UCR’s famous symbol is a great way to start your morning. "C" the campus from a different perspective.

Celebrate Homecoming with CNAS
Ribbon Cutting and Champagne Toast
The campus will hold a toast to celebrate the renovation of the Geology building.
“The renovations allow us to do top-notch science in a manner that we couldn’t do before because we lacked the facilities,” said Mary Droser, chair of earth sciencs. “This building is home to the kind of science – the study of earthquakes, climate change and wildfires, for example – that is incredibly relevant to California, the country and the world. Now we have a building that will allow us to do that science even better.”
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tailgate and the Big Game:
Show your Highlander spirit at UCR’s pep rally featuring Scotty and the Highlander band, the Highlander girls, and a pipe band procession into the game. Celebrate Homecoming with food, games and a beer garden. Event leads into the 5 p.m. homecoming game starting at the Student Recreation Center.
8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
HEAT
Be there for UCR’s hottest music festival, featuring America’s top artists. Event is near the bell tower. This is a ticketed event. http://heat.ucr.edu/
