RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) – UC Riverside Chancellor Timothy P. White will speak at a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, June 16 about the current crisis in California’s education system.

The Citizens University Committee at UC Riverside meets at 7:15 a.m. at University Extension, 1200 University Avenue, rooms D and E.

Cost is $22 and a response is needed by June 14.

His talk is a call to action and advocacy to bring more resources into California’s public schools.

“The topic is serious but we all have a stake,” White said. “For 50 years California has placed a priority on the education of our youth. Education is the great social equalizer. However, access is becoming more difficult, costs are higher, and opportunities are less equal. We need to turn this around—not just for the benefit of the individual, but
for the benefit of society as a whole.”
