RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) - Looking to do something fun, different, and exciting the weekend before Halloween? Look no further because California Riverside Ballet brings the downtown area alive reeling the public into a supernatural theme with stories of horror, mystery, and intrigue featuring the work of students from UC Riverside's Department of Theatre.

Playwright Kit Fugrad’s written play “Southern Spell” will be one of four walking tours in downtown Riverside’s annual Ghost Walk, Friday and Saturday night, Oct. 22 and 23.

“Southern Spell” is the first tour, telling one progressive story, revealing itself over time, as listeners move from site to site.

“It was a huge contribution of time and thought processes,” Fugrad explained. He invited others from his playwriting classes at UC Riverside to help him out with his production.

Other UC Riverside students who volunteered are Alexa-Marie Palmieri, a theatre major; as well as Whitney Amechi, a double major with an emphasis in theatre.

Fugrad runs a production company called The Patchwork People Productions. “Just getting the word out there is important to me,” he explains.

Times for the Ghost Walk are 5:40 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. Tours begin at 20-minute intervals. Space is limited as the event tour times sell out early. For more information about the event, contact California Riverside Ballet at (951) 787-7850.
