RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- A rose-pruning demonstration that is
traditionally held in January at UC Riverside's Botanic Gardens has
been cancelled because of rain damage to the road leading into the gardens.

"This happens periodically and we are working to get the road fixed,"
said Giles Waines, director of the gardens.

UCR Botanic Gardens is 40 rolling acres on the east side of the
University of California, Riverside Campus, with walking trails benches
and more than 3,500 plant species from around the world. It is also a
sanctuary for wildlife, where nearly 200 bird species have been
officially observed.

Regular events include plant sales, tours and a Spring Primavera in the
Gardens event in May that combines food, wine and flowers.
