Unity Day 9 Set for Feb. 5 at UCR

Unity Day ?9, an annual event that brings about 600 high school and community college students to the University of California, Riverside for college workshops and activities, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

High school juniors and seniors and community college students are invited to attend the free event, which gives students a taste of college life and provides information on such topics as the college application process and financial aid. Students will have an opportunity to meet with UCR African American students and staff to discuss admissions, student services and campus life. There will also be performances of traditional African dance, step shows, gospel singing and poetry readings.

The event will begin in the University Theatre with presentations on applying to college, the financial aid process and UCR student life and support services. Afternoon performances will be in the Student Recreation Center.

Students interested in attending should make reservations by calling UCR’s High School and Transfer Services Office at (909) 787-4531. Parking will be provided in Lot 6 free of charge.
