RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- The Sixth Annual Primavera in the Gardens, Riverside’s premiere wine and food tasting event, takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens. Approximately 500 people attended Primavera in the Gardens last year.

“The beauty of the Botanic Gardens and the warm Spring weather combine with live music and the smell of delicious food to provide a great environment for wine-tasting,” said Giles Waines, director of the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens. “Everywhere you look, there is another kind of California wine.”

The Primavera fund raiser is a casual event with hundreds of people walking to sample food and wine at serving tables positioned throughout the garden. Musical performers provide live accompaniment.

The event will offer wines from Benziger Family Winery; Callaway Vineyard & Winery; Falkner Winery; Galleano Winery; Imagery Estate Winery; Joseph Filippi Winery & Vineyards; Maurice Car'rie Vineyard & Winery; Mount Palomar Winery; Riverside Brewing Co.; Thornton Winery; Pacific Rim International Wine Competition Selections; Van Roekel Vineyards & Winery; and Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyard.

Appetizers will be presented by some of Riverside's most
popular restaurants and vendors: Babylon; Back to the Grind; Ciao Bella; Gram's Mission Barbecue Palace; Jammin' Bread; Mario's Place; Mission Inn; Sevilla
Simple Simon's; Tin Lizzy's Cookie Cafe; Toad in the Hole; Trader Joe's; UCR Dining Services.
