The College of Engineering - Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT) is trying to borrow a 2003 Toyota Camry for an emissions testing program, and they are willing to pay $1,000 per month. Testing is estimated to take two months.
The testing is similar to those performed at a smog check station and most of the test program is conducted indoors. The car should have between 10,000 and 40,000 miles on the odometer, and should be classified as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle(ULEV.)
The objective of the research project is to better predict the effects of ethanol content on exhaust emissions from the newest vehicles that meet current emissions standards.
“This research is important especially now because ethanol is going to play an important role in the blending and supply of gasoline in California and elsewhere throughout the country,” said Tom Durbin, associate research engineer at CE-CERT.
More information is available from Durbin at (909) 781-5794.
