UC Riverside Management School Dean to Give Keynote Address at International Data Analysis Symposium

The symposium, at Aston University in Birmingham, UK, features about 200 scholars from around the globe who are involved in research on productivity analysis and performance management. The title of Banker’s address is “Applications of Rigorous Statistical Tests using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).” He will speak on recent advances in the rigorous statistical analysis of data that compares the impact of factors on the performance of decision-making units (the common unit of measure in DEA) in business. Banker’s address will also cover the use of statistical analysis to evaluate the significance of productivity growth and technological progress. He and his co-authors will present four other research papers at the symposium.
Banker is internationally recognized as a leader in research in management. The Institute for Scientific Information (Web of Science) has recognized him as one of the most highly cited researchers in economics and business worldwide that have made fundamental contributions to the advancement of science and technology. He has received recognition for his research, including awards for notable contributions to the research literature and best paper awards at international conferences in information systems and in accounting. Also, he has published more than 100 highly cited articles in prestigious research journals in several management disciplines.
Banker’s research analyzes data collected from different companies to address complex or emerging problems of importance to managers. His research on information systems explores issues of investments in information technology and management of software productivity and quality. His research in accounting addresses questions of performance measurement, incentive compensation, corporate governance and strategic cost management. His research in management science includes the development of new analytical methods for productivity and efficiency evaluation. The National Science Foundation, the Financial Executives Research Foundation, the Institute of Management Accountants, and several leading corporations have supported Bankers’ research. He serves as the editor of the information systems department of the journal Management Science.
Prior to joining UC Riverside, Banker held distinguished professorial positions at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Minnesota and the University of Texas at Dallas.
