Meanwhile, around the bell tower…

Around the bell towers, speakers, flyersMore than 20 Occupiers gathered at the bell tower over the lunch hour, chanting about rising tuition, wealth inequality, and their right to protest. Another 20 to 30 people stopped to  listen. At the same time, numerous student groups – from MECha, fraternities and a cycling club to proponents of Israel and Palestine – set up tables in the springlike sunshine and chatted with passersby about their organizations and points of view. Television crews from NBC-Channel 4 and Telemundo interviewed students about their frustrations over rising tuition, and Craig Fiegener from NBC grabbed an impromptu interview with Chancellor Timothy P. White as he chatted with students around the bell tower.

At one point an Occupy protester lit incense behind a small red tent. Others handed out fliers announcing a continuing demonstration on Thursday and a nationwide strike of students for May 1.
