RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — UC Riverside’s Gluck Summer Camp for the Arts is accepting registration from high school students who want hands-on experience in art, dance, music, theater and creative writing.

The camps, organized by the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts, are taught by UCR graduate students and are intended to encourage high school students to consider pursuing the arts in college, said John Medina, program coordinator.

Each camp lasts three weeks, with workshops scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. There is no charge.

The first session runs from July 9 though July 27 and will feature workshops in art, creative writing, dance and theater. The camp will conclude with a student and Gluck Fellows concert from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 27.

Art, dance, music and theater workshops will be featured during the second camp, scheduled from Aug. 6 through Aug. 24. The session will conclude with a student and Gluck Fellows concert from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24.

Founded in 1996, the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts has been funded through the Gluck Foundation. Dancers, writers, musicians, actors and art historians teach and perform in schools and nursing homes in the Inland area. It is one of only three similar arts outreach programs in the nation funded by the Gluck Foundation. The other two are at The Juilliard School and at the University of California, Los Angeles.
