RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — A student film called “Incrimination” will premiere in a free public screening at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 31 in the University Lecture Hall at UC Riverside.

The film includes intense action and realistic-looking violence. It was made by the students of UC Riverside, said Brian L. Tan, president of the Film & Photography Society (FPS) at UCR and the film’s director.

“Not only is it our goal to entertain, delight, and interest students about the filmmaking process, but we aim to show them that nothing, no matter how ambitious or far-fetched, is ever impossible,” said Tan, who is a sophomore majoring in political science and international relations. “We believe we have succeeded in presenting an unconventional, yet professional-looking interpretation of a typical Hollywood action flick despite a limited $700 budget and only two days of actual production.”

The film has a cast of more than 70 people, sets and props that include buses, police cars and uniformed police officers. The plot involves competition between the police and the FBI to find the group responsible for a shoot-out that killed dozens of people. A trailer is available on YouTube

Campus groups supporting the student effort include the Associated Students Program Board (ASPB), Student Life; the Department of Media and Cultural Studies; the Honors program; Dining Services, the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, the UCR Student Recreation Center, the Alumni Association and the Women’s Resource Center, among others.
