Village Bookstore at UC Riverside Holds Signing for Book of Essays

The book, "Dialogue and Difference," celebrates the differences of opinions within the women’s movement

(May 17, 2005)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- Maguerite Waller and Yenna Wu, UC Riverside professors and contributors to a book of essays called “Dialogue and Difference; Feminisms Challenge Globalization,” will sign books at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at The Village Bookstore, 1299 University Ave., Suite 101, Riverside.

In this book, published by Palgrave Macmillan in April, an international group of feminist scholars and activists contribute essays, that when taken together, demonstrate the power of dialogue across geographical and ethnic differences.

“These different approaches to reality and to scholarship across the usual North/South, East/West divides serve to demonstrate the value of our differences, as well as our similarities,” said Professor Waller, who is one of the book’s two editors. She is a professor of Women’s Studies and Comparative Literature. Professor Wu is a professor of Chinese in the UCR Department of Comparative Literature & Foreign Languages.
