UCR Pushes Up Notification for Applicants

UC Riverside Will Notify Applicants Feb. 1

Applicants will receive word about their acceptance a month earlier than in past years

(January 31, 2007)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. ( -- This year, incoming freshmen at the University of California, Riverside will begin receiving their admissions status on Thursday, Feb. 1. This admissions notification date is one month earlier than last year at UC Riverside, and earlier than any other campus in the University of California system.

Most UC campuses will notify on March 1. UC Merced will notify applicants in early February and UCLA and UC Berkeley will notify applicants at the end of March.

“The early notification date is part of our ongoing effort to put students first,” said UC Riverside Interim Director of Admissions Merlyn Campos. “The earlier date reduces students’ anxiety and gives them an extra month to plan their academic future. It also gives the campus an extra month to get information to them about specific programs that might interest them.”

Early admissions notification allows UC Riverside students to accept their financial aid package sooner, register for freshman orientation sooner, and reserve space in their residence hall sooner, she said.

Campos stressed that the early notification date is the date on which admission decisions will begin posting on the Web site ( for those applicants who have completely fulfilled their admissions requirements. Admission decisions will continue to post on a rolling basis after Feb. 1, 2007.

The University encourages all students who applied to UCR to log onto and establish a personal MyUCR account. MyUCR provides students with general information about the many academic programs, activities, and student organizations that make up the UC Riverside experience. Each student’s account is customized to his or her specific interests and, perhaps most importantly, MyUCR guides students through the registration and enrollment process.

Incoming students who have registered with MyUCR and have completely fulfilled their admissions requirements will be able to receive their UC Riverside admissions status on MyUCR on Feb. 1 at 12:01 a.m.
