Prof. Wyman can talk about the value that fuels, such as ethanol form cellulosic biomass, play in the development of an increasingly independent energy policy. Diversifying biomass conversion beyond corn can yield enough material to produce about 130 billion gallons of ethanol, according to the U.S. departments of Energy and Agriculture.
