Faculty Featured in Poetry Reading

Current and Former Faculty Featured in July 28 Poetry Reading

RIVERSIDE, Calif. ( — Current and former faculty from UC Riverside are among the poets who will read from their work at “A Summer Poetry Reading” beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Riverside Art Museum, 3425 Mission Inn Ave.

The event is sponsored by Poemeleon: A Journal of Poetry, an online literary journal featuring the work of emerging and established poets. The journal was created by Riverside resident Cati Porter.

Participating poets include: Maureen Alsop, Poemeleon associate editor whose full collection of poetry, “Apparition Wren,” will be published by next year; Lavina Blossom, whose work has appeared in California Quarterly and The Paris Review; Frankie Drayus, a Los Angeles resident who was a finalist for the 2007 May Swenson Poetry Award; Judy Kronenfeld, a creative writing lecturer at UCR and the author of a book and two chapbooks of poetry; Robert Krut, a Los Angeles resident whose work has appeared in journals such as Blackbird and The Mid-American Review; and Frances McConnel, a former creative writing lecturer at UCR whose most recent book of poems, “The Direction of Longing,” is scheduled for publication in July 2007.
