UC Riverside Offers Prospective Students an Advance Look at College Life

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (— Go behind the scenes at UCR during Highlander Day on Saturday, April 26. Highlander Day is designed to introduce incoming and prospective students to university life at the University of California, Riverside.

Open for exploration will be UCR’s wide-ranging academic options from the arts, the humanities and the sciences; classrooms, buildings and grounds on the 1,200-acre campus. Even college residence halls are inviting prospective students who call for a reservation to a one-night sampling of resident student life. Students, alumni, faculty and staff members will also be available to answer questions and talk about the work and leisure lives of a UCR student.

Highlander Day will be in session from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., but a reservation is required. Reservations can be made online at For questions about Highlander Day, please call 951-827-4445.
The residence hall overnight requires both registration and payment of a nominal fee. Space for the overnight stay is quite limited, however. Reservations are available by calling UCR’s HOST program at (951) 827-5471.

UCR currently hosts nearly 17,000 students who can choose from 80 undergraduate majors, 50 master’s-degree programs and 38 doctoral programs. UCR is located at the base of the Box Springs Mountains in Riverside, a city of about 285,000 residents located about 50 miles east of Los Angeles. More information about UCR is available at
