UCR To Host Riverside Schools Science Fair

(March 8, 2002)

The public is invited to view the work of Riverside’s top student scientists from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday March 13 at the University of California, Riverside during the 13th annual Riverside Unified School District Science Fair. The event is free and open to the public.

UCR faculty and graduate students will be among those judging the 163 science projects of kindergarten through 12th-grade students on Monday March 11 and Tuesday March 12. All projects will be on public display on Wednesday in the Commons Terrace Rooms.

Science fair projects cover areas such as earth science, biology, behavioral and social science, engineering, medicine and health, and zoology. Winning projects will represent the district at the Inland Empire Science and Engineering Fair at the Orange Show in San Bernardino in April. Winners at that event will advance to the state science fair in Los Angeles in May.

The College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, the Bourns College of Engineering at UCR, and the Riverside Unified School District sponsor the event.

Parking is available in Transportation Hub #1 at Canyon Crest Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A tram will take visitors to the science fair. Visitor parking costs $6 per vehicle before 4 p.m. and $3 per vehicle after 4 p.m.
