UCR to Co-host Solo Bagpipe Competition

UCR Pipe Band to Co-host Solo Bagpipe Competition

The Angus MacDonald western regional piping contest will be held at the Canyon Crest Country Club on Nov. 1.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of California, Riverside Pipe Band will co-host the United States Western Regional Angus MacDonald solo bagpipe competition on Saturday, Nov. 1, starting at 10 a.m. at the Canyon Crest Country Club, 975 Country Club Drive, Riverside. General admission is $10 per person, $5 for UCR students.

The Angus MacDonald competition is the first step the United States Piping Foundation uses to determine who will attend the prestigious Glenfiddich Competition held annually in Scotland.

Professional class and amateur pipers will compete in two events: the March-Strathspey-Reel and Piobaireachd, also known as Ceol Mhor, the classical music of the Great Highland Bagpipe.

A buffet lunch and beverages will be available for purchase.
