Mozart to Play Role in UCR Homecoming

(February 4, 1999)

The first official UCR Alumni Choral Reunion will add a musical twist to the 1999 Homecoming Weekend with a performance of Mozart's Requiem, accompanied by orchestra, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 in University Theatre.

Tickets are $7 general, or $4 for students and seniors 65 or over.

More than 50 alumni singers will join faculty and current members of the UCR Choral Society and Chamber Singers in rehearsals all weekend, with breaks for general events such as the Homecoming Happy Hour and the Men's Basketball game.

Professor Ruth Charloff, conductor of this concert as well as of the Chamber Singers and the Orchestra, said the reunion will help recapture the energy and enthusiasm generated by the William Reynolds Memorial concert in 1995, a concert dedicated to the professor who founded UCR's choral traditions and helped bring the bell tower to campus.

Parking on campus costs $3. Permits for Lot 6 are available at the parking lot the afternoon of the concert.
