Fresh Choreography on Tap at "UCR is Dancing"

(February 22, 2000)

"UCR is Dancing '00," the annual dance concert presented by the Department of Dance at the University of California, Riverside, will be at 8 p.m. Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, at the University Theatre. A bargain matinee is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11.

Student dancers perform premieres from student choreographers Denise Donovan, Michelle Fox, Matt Lewellin, Camille Moore, Callie Rich, Noreen Schweiss, Joy Wilson, and Tom Young.

This year's performance, directed by choreographer and faculty member, Susan Rose, showcases new ideas and experiments in original dance making. The creations include a quintet infused with everyday habits; a choreographic skeleton fleshed out in layers of variation; and an intermission piece that questions the role of the audience, and more.

Tickets are $8 general and $6 for students and seniors. Parking will be free in nearby Lot 6. The matinee performance will offer a two-for-one deal. Further information as available from the Department of Dance, (909) 787-5424. Tickets can be purchased at the University Theatre ticket office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, or at the door starting one hour before each performance.
