(February 16, 2001)

Riverside's top student scientists will gather at the 12th annual Riverside Unified School District Science Fair to be held Monday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 14 at the University of California, Riverside.

UCR faculty members and graduate students will be among those to judge the science projects of hundreds of students, kindergarten through 12th grade, during the first two days of the fair. All projects will be on public display in the Commons Terrace Rooms from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, in the University Theatre at UCR. Both events are free and open to the public Campus parking costs between $3 and $6.

Science fair projects cover such areas as earth science, biology, behavioral and social science, engineering, medicine and health, and zoology. These are the best projects from all of the science fairs held at Riverside Unified's 27 elementary schools, six middle schools and five comprehensive high schools. They include some highly original experiments.

The UCR College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and the Bourns College of Engineering will host the event. Winners from this event will qualify to compete in the Inland Science and Engineering Fair, scheduled for April 24-26 at the National Orange Show, Damus Building.
