UCR conference on urban pest management scheduled for March 29

Presentations scheduled include: 'Dealing with the Public's Concerns Over Pesticides'; 'Exploring Strategies for Argentine Ant Control'; 'They're Here, They're Armed, and They're Mean: Africanized Bees in California' and 'Update on the Red Imported Fire Ant.' There will also be updates on rules and regulations in the pest control industry, and presentations on the debate over human exposure to pesticides.
The conference is presented by the UCR entomology department for professionals in the structural pest control industry, as well as interested nursery growers, environmentalists and members of the public.
Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. at the UCR Extension Center, 1200 University Ave., Riverside, Calif. The program begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. The conference costs $55 per person, and offers credit to pest management professionals. Students will be allowed to attend at no cost.
