UC Riverside Offers "Primavera in the Gardens" Sunday, May 21

Food, wine and music at the annual fund-raiser for the Botanic Gardens

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) -- The 8th Annual Primavera in the Gardens, Riverside’s premier wine and food tasting event, is set for 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 21 at UC Riverside’s Botanic Gardens.

Tickets are $40 per person, and the money raised benefits the Friends of the UCR Botanic Gardens.

The Primavera fund raiser typically features wines from more than a dozen California vineyards and wineries, as well as food from a variety of local restaurants and caterers. Live music accompanies visitors walking through the gardens, in bloom and criss-crossed with walking paths.

Those interested can also buy chances on a drawing. The first prize is a trip for two to Vancouver, British Columbia. Tickets for both the event and the drawing are available in advance and at the gate. To receive advance tickets, reservations should be postmarked by Friday, May 12. Make checks payable to UCR Foundation and send to Primavera, Botanic Gardens, University of California, Riverside, CA 92521-0124.

The Botanic Gardens feature more than 3,500 plant species from around the world, and it is wheelchair accessible. To get to the Gardens, exit Martin Luther King Ave. from the 60 Freeway in Riverside, turn right then right again at Canyon Crest Avenue, and follow the signs to the Botanic Gardens.
