UC Police to Hold Campus Safety Forums

Crime-prevention sessions slated for October 17th and 20th

(October 11, 2006)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — (www.ucr.edu) -- The UC Police Department, the Campus Escort Service and the UC Riverside Counseling Center will hold campus safety forums Tuesday, Oct.17, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 20, from noon to 1 p.m. in Humanities 1500.

UCR Chief of Police Mike Lane said the forums are being held in response to concerns n the wake of this week’s arrest in a sexual assault.

“Although we were able to arrest the suspect in the recent sexual assault and robbery on campus, this incident has shaken our community's sense of safety,” Lane said.

Among the topics to be discussed at the forums will be the lessons learned from the incidents well as crime-prevention resources, tips and suggestions.
