UC Riverside Hosts a Public Conversation on Diversity and Success

California Assemblyman Joe Coto, D-San Jose and State Senator Gloria Romero, D-Los Angeles will attend to receive comments from the public and from experts on diversity in higher education. A panel of administrators from regional educational organizations will also participate.
UCR Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Ellen Wartella will offer a welcome.
Expert testimony is scheduled from David Plank, director of Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE), UC Berkeley; Sophie Fanelli, senior researcher at UCLA; as well as responses from panelists Rowena Lagrosa, superintendent in Moreno Valley Unified; Sergio Flores, principal of Fontana High School; Martha Gomez, director of language services and student programs in Jurupa Unified; Magaly Lavadenz, professor at Loyola-Marymount University; Jan Gustafson, director of the Promise Initiative; Maria Quezada of the California Association for Bilingual Education; and Rocio Dresser, a professor at San Jose State University.
The event is open to the public and parking is free in Lot 30. A shuttle is available to provide transportation.
