Free Spring Dance Concert Shows Fresh Steps at UCR

Original student choreography will highlight the Spring Dance Concert scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 1 and 2, in Physical Education 102 at the University of California, Riverside.

The annual production is the culmination of coursework by choreography students. Directed by Wendy Rogers, assistant professor of dance at UCR, the concert includes personal solos, structured improvisations, a variety of ensemble studies, and music compos ed and performed by Ray McNamara.

Admission is free, but parking permits cost $3.

Two other upcoming dance performances are worthy of note:

--The Ballroom and Swing Club Concert is scheduled for Monday, June 5 at 8 p.m. in Physical Education 102. This event showcases social, competitive and theatrical ballroom, swing, and Latin dances performed by UCR students.

--The Gluck Dance Touring Ensemble will perform Wednesday, June 7 at 2:30 p.m. in Physical Education 102. The Gluck Dance Touring Ensemble has visited many schools and nursing homes to bring the arts to the community.
